Computers become more energy effiencent
Information technology companies are realizing that the hardware they produce are contributing to the greenhouse effect by consuming great amounts of power. Its been recently documented that a computer server plus the air conditioning to keep it cool. This week one of the world’s largest computer manufacturers Hewlett Packard has announced it is moving to next level of Energy Star Compliance. HP has entered the market with these new PC’s and hardware a few steps ahead of the USA Environmental Protection Agency's deadline to implement new energy-efficient specs for PCs. The USA EPA announced a new Energy Star 4.0 hardware standard.
HP claims they are also offering along with the energy effiencient machines, "80 percent efficient" power supplies.
