Internet Explorer

New version of Internet Explorer on the way, Oh Joy!
Microsoft have announced that their new version of the web browser Internet Explorer 7.0, won't just run on Windows XP with Service Pack 2, but will also run on Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
At this stage, whilst corporate users who have yet to upgrade to Windows XP, have reuested a version of IE 7 for Windows 2000. Microsoft has been reported to be considering the reuest even though they are dropping support for the 2000 platform shortly , has not yet announced any development there.
There is some expectation that Microsoft may rethink the outlook express portion of the internet explorer suite. However, people have been reportedly told whilst there is a new version of outlook express ready to ship with the next version of the internet explorer browser, the development of outlook express is not part of the IE7 plan. Which means Microsoft may actually be thinking of shipping the programs as two separate items.
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has suffered from a reputation of poor security and this reputation which has been well earned by the previous versions of the browser have been exploited by other browser development projects such as Mozilla, Firefox, and Opera.
A test version will be available mid year according to sources at Microsoft. Will they Alpha and Beta test or will they just release bugs and all? Time will tell?
